Maysarah

Terms of use

Last updated 20 October 2026.

Who these terms are between

Maysarah is operated by Waseem Kolia in Johannesburg, South Africa ("we", "us"). These terms are between you and us whenever you use the Maysarah app or this website. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

What this app is

Maysarah is a tool for keeping the records of a small business: what you sell, who you sell it to, what they owe you and what you have in stock. It writes those records down on your phone and helps you send documents and messages from it. It is a record-keeping tool, not an accountant, not a lawyer and not a bank.

Your licence to use it

We give you a personal licence to install and use the app on your own devices to run your own business. You may not copy, change, sell, rent or lend the app, take it apart, decompile it, or use any part of it to build another. The app, its code and its design, the Maysarah name and the Maysarah mark belong to us. Nothing in these terms gives you any right in them beyond using the app as it is meant to be used.

Your records are yours

Everything you put in belongs to you. It stays on your phone (see the privacy policy). You can export all of it to a backup file at any time and take it wherever you like. We do not claim any right to it and we cannot see it.

Your business is yours

What you sell, what you charge and what you tell your customers is your decision. Anything the app writes for you, an invoice, a reminder, a flyer, goes out in your name, from your phone, after you have read it and chosen to send it. You are responsible for what you send, for keeping to the laws that apply to your business, and for the personal information of your own customers that you keep in the app.

What the app does not promise

We do the arithmetic carefully and we test it, but the app cannot know whether a document meets the requirements of SARS, the Consumer Protection Act, or anyone else you answer to. An invoice this app writes is a document you are giving a customer, and checking that it says what your business is required to say is your job. If you are registered for VAT, the same goes for the VAT on it.

The app is provided as it is. We cannot promise it will never have a fault, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for business losses that follow from one. Nothing in these terms takes away a right that the Consumer Protection Act or any other law gives you and does not let you give up. If something is wrong, tell us: there is a "Send us a problem" button under Help & about, and it is the only way a fault reaches us, because the app reports nothing on its own.

Backups are yours to make

Your phone is the only copy of your records. The app makes backing up quick and reminds you, but making the backup, and keeping it somewhere safe, is yours to do. A lost, stolen, broken or wiped phone with no backup means the records are gone, and we have no copy to restore.

Safety features

The emergency features send messages from your own phone when you press the button. This is not a monitoring service, and nobody at Maysarah is watching. A phone that is off, out of airtime, out of signal or taken from you sends nothing. Do not rely on it as your only plan.

Paying for the app

The parts of the app that cost money, if and when they do, are bought through Google Play on the terms Google gives you, and we take no payment any other way inside the app. If a subscription ends, nothing you have already recorded is hidden or deleted: you keep every record and can still export it.

Stopping

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. Export your records first if you want to keep them. We may stop providing the app, or a part of it, by giving notice in the app; your records are still yours to export.

Changes

If these terms change, the new version appears here with its date, and in the app under Help & about. Carrying on using the app after that means the new version applies.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of South Africa may hear any dispute about them.
